Sustainability

As one of the largest industries in the world, the automotive sector has a significant environmental, social, and economic impact. One of the most pressing issues related to climate change is reducing the amount of greenhouse gases emitted by the transportation sector.

Electrification of road transports will be key to achieving this, while we and the industry at the same time have the possibility to improve our sustainability efforts also in other aspects, such as energy consumption, waste management, road safety, and recycling of spare parts.

Our business includes everything from distribution of new vehicles to dismantling them at end of life. Throughout this reach, we aim to be a contributing force for sustainable development of European mobility.

As one of Europe’s largest companies in our industry, we have a great responsibility to contribute to a sustainable development. Our work to do this is based on our values, Code of Conduct and policies, for instance regarding health, safety, environment and quality.

We are working actively to continually develop and improve our sustainability performance. Our approach to sustainability is to focus on areas and activities that we deem are the most relevant from our and our stakeholders’ needs. This includes:

  • Reducing emissions from the transport sector. Electrification needs to continue to reach global and national climate goals. With one of Europe's largest product offerings of rechargeable vehicles in different price ranges, we are a contributing force in the transition to a fossil-free vehicle fleet.
  • Reduced climate footprint in our own operations. Energy efficiency, waste minimisation and fuels are areas where we have great impact. For several years, continuous improvement work has been underway to reduce our climate footprint. This includes activities such as environmental certifications for new buildings, solar cell installations, high recycling targets and an ongoing collaboration with AFRY to increase energy efficiency.
  • Resource management and safety throughout the vehicle's life cycle. Through service and repairs at almost 300 workshops and body and paint shops around Europe, as well as activities in car dismantling and recycling of car parts, we contribute to the continued use of the existing vehicle fleet as resource-efficiently and safely as possible throughout the entire life cycle.
  • A responsible and attractive employer. Ensuring a safe, secure, and stimulating workplace for our employees is a priority throughout our group. This includes good working conditions, strong leadership, skills development, working methods to minimise accidents in operations, gender equality and zero tolerance for all forms of discrimination.
  • Economic growth. With operations in 13 countries, we are a significant actor in the industry as a whole and in the local markets where we operate. Maintaining good business quality and profitability will enable us to continue creating value through direct and indirect jobs and payments to financiers as well as the public sector.
